2009 Models and Redesigns
Toyota has introduced an all-new model for its North American 2009 lineup. It is called the Venza, and is best described as a tall station wagon; the Venza carries the lines of an SUV, but with a graceful silhouette and plenty of room and flexibility inside. The driver and front passenger sit slightly higher than they would in an average sedan, yet step-in access is easier than a typical SUV. The rear area has a lower cargo floor, and an optional power rear door eases access and loading. The split rear seats fold flat to create a substantial and flexible load area. With the goal of keeping the title of best-selling small car in the world, Toyota has introduced a completely redesigned Corolla. Although it has an identical wheelbase to the 2008, the 2009 model is almost 3 inches wider and an inch shorter, giving the new Corolla a stouter appearance. The Corolla will be available in five grades, from Standard to the performance-oriented XRS. The base engine gets a boost of six horsepower for a total of 132, but fuel economy is not expected to change from the current generation. The Corolla is joined by a redesigned Matrix for 2009. Built on the same platform as the Corolla, the Matrix features a sporty new exterior design and interior improvements to increase
